Westmoreland County was the first county in Pennsylvania west of the Allegheny Mountains. Communities in Westmoreland include Greensburg, Irwin, Jeanette, Delmont, Export, Murrysville, Harrison City, New Stanton, Ligonier, Latrobe, New Kensington, Lower Burrell and Trafford. The county seat is Greensburg. Most of the county is considered part of the Pittsburgh metro area. It is a primarly rural county, dotted with small cities and towns.
